Tours and trail riding motorcycle holiday in Spain

If you are fed up with the rain and the general grimness of weather we have had here in the UK this winter, then here is something to dream about. Wemoto News has been sent some information about a holiday trip joint venture from Tours on two wheels and Trailworld Spain, which looks like a good one. It combines great off road bikes with the best that Spain has to offer including empty roads, the great outdoors and sunshine (remember that?). Here is a look at the itinerary to give you a flavour of what's on offer.

This particular holiday lasts for seven days and motorcycles are provided. It combines a guided road tour across Southern Spain, with three days of off-road biking over various terrains in and around the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The tour takes you via "Mini-Hollywood" at Almeria, where a lot of the Wild West movie greats were filmed..Here's what to expect if you head off on this motorcycle holiday:

Day 1: Arrival in Calpe and Familiarisation Ride.

You will fly into Alicante or Murcia airport. (Flights can be booked for you if required). You will be transferred to your hotel in Calpe where there is a choice of 3,4 and 5 star accommodation depending on what you prefer, all are within an easy walk of the town and the beach and they all have a pool. If there is time on your arrival day you can take a short familiarisation ride to get you comfortable with the roads and the motorcycle. Travel up the N332 to Gata de Gorges and then take the even more scenic inland route home. About 80km of windy heaven.

Day 2: Calpe to Cartegena

After a breakfast in the hotel you will ride out heading for Cartagena, passing thorough Alicante and Murcia on the way. Cartagena is the main military port in Spain, and is home to a large naval shipyard.

Day 3: Cartegena to Almeria (130 miles)

From Cartagena you'll travel to Almeria via the Mini Hollywood complex. Here you can take in the unique and beautiful landscapes which provided the backdrops for legendary films such as ’A Fistful of Dollars’ and ’The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ amongst others.

Day 4: Almeria to Villanueva del Trabuco via. Granada (150 miles)

From Almeria the tour takes the scenic A348 and the E332 to Granada at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The capital of the province of Granada, the city has many examples of fine architecture and is steeped in history. From there you head to your rest stop at Villanueva del Trabuco.

Day 5&6: Off-road Dirt-biking

Enjoy some off road time at Trailworld Spain. Accommodation can be arranged locally.

Trails and dirt tracks criss-cross the spectacular scenery of the Andalucian hills, covering a variety of terrains to entertain and challenge riders of all abilities. But there’s no rush, it’s not a race or an endurance test, the guide will set a pace gentle enough to enjoy the view and the atmosphere, tailoring the pace to the abilities of you and your riding mates.

Day 7: Return and Depart Spain

Depart from Malaga airport. Alternatively, rent the road bikes for a further few days riding back to Calpe and depart from Alicante, Murcia or Valencia.
